Lighthouse
Biloxi, Mississippi

#0730
The Biloxi Lighthouse, like many of the residents of Biloxi, has once again survived a massive and destructive hurricane named Katrina. Authorized by legislation in 1847 by Mississippi Representative Jefferson Davis, the Biloxi lighthouse was built of brick wrapped by bolted metal plates by Murray and Hazlehurst Vulcan Works in Baltimore and completed in the spring of 1848. The Lighthouse, located in the medium of US 90 in Biloxi, is known to be the second oldest in the nation. This Mississippi Icon continues to be a symbol of the strength and perseverance of this
