 Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum

Biloxi, Mississippi

#0694

Located one block North of US 90 at 115 First St. at Point Cadet in Biloxi, the Museum was totally destroyed by Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. Established in 1986 to "preserve and interpret the maritime history and heritage of Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast" the Museum was housed in a former US Coast Guard building built in 1934. The 30 foot wall of water pushed by Hurricane Katrina completed destroyed the building and  exhibits on shrimping, oystering, fishing and valuable historic photographs. Only the facade remained.
